2021 Annual Winter Holiday Break in Southwest Michigan

<<First of all: We got our first round of the vaccine!! We were on a local hospital waitlist for if they have extra unassigned vaccines to give out (since we are full-time wedding photographers and want to be able to feel safe this year) and we got a call today asking us to come in within an hour to get the vaccine! We’ll keep folks updated, but we’ll be fully vaccinated with the 2nd shot this month of February! Woo!>>

This week since we’re working on some new client physical album designs for folks & holding 2022 wedding consultations over Zoom, we figured we’d share with you some scenes from our annual Holiday Break in January! Most folks take time off in December every year for Christmas, Hanukah, and whatnot, but for us December is one of the MOST busy months of the entire year as we work on client printing, card designing, physical wedding album printing, and more (though literally the new year)! This year was probably our busiest December of orders yet, so as usual we waited to take our Holiday Break until mid/ late January. EVERY year for the past nearly 6 years we’ve gone out to visit our immediate families at their homes out in California and Arizona. Since during this Pandemic January 2021 Arizona and California happen to have the highest Covid-19 cases in the WORLD, we obviously didn’t get to go out to see our immediate families again. Instead we opted for a snowy Staycation at an empty family member’s lake house in Michigan about 45 minutes away. After some belated housework at our home (planting 75 tulip bulbs mid-January along both sides of the walkway to our house, hanging things on walls, swapping out some furniture items, etc), we finally brought our 3 pets up to the cottage and were able to enjoy some relaxation and winter with them. (We didn’t even bring our work computers up since we needed our ONCE a year annual break to actually be a true BREAK)! Here are some photos we took during our time off.

*Here are some of the cell phone photos from our break below! We loved rearranging this nook in our home with the vintage furniture items that Jenny thrifted! We were lucky to get our 75 bulbs in before the ground totally froze as well! It’s a weird experience gardening in winter. The last photo is of us getting our dogs to be sled dogs on some very thick lake ice! (They didn’t fully understand the experience, but Jenny got them running and we used Jenny’s childhood sled to get easy movement on the bumpy ice).

Thanks so much for checking in this week! We hope you enjoyed some of these winter scenes from our annual belated holiday break that just ended for us about a week & a half ago! We hope that you’re all staying safe this winter and we hope that vaccinations pick up rapidly so that we can one day get to a point where masks are no longer needed and life can go back to some sort of normalcy. With teamwork we can get through this together… while temporarily apart.
