Samantha & Jay's Marriage Portrait Session in South Bend-! (5 Years of Marriage-!)

Welcome back to the Weekly Wednesday blog-! This autumn over a DECADE (in our 12th year) in to working as Professional Photographers for our own clients we just started our 6th Year of our Weekly Wednesday Photography Work Blog posts-!

This week we’re celebrating Samantha & Jay’s Marriage-! It’s very common for folks to hire professional photographers for their Senior (high school) photos, sometimes University Graduation Portraits, sometimes Engagement Sessions, wedding photography, sometimes Career Headshots, sometimes Maternity photography, Infant Portraits, and Family Portraits. What’s not as often celebrated are Marriage Portraits with JUST the TWO of you making your way together as a team throughout the years-! We in our relationship personally get one fancy Antique Anniversary Portrait taken by a professional every year (on an antique camera & directly on glass or metal- the image being both the negative & positive/ only copy of the image), but we don’t think enough people celebrate their relationship with their teammate/ partner or even JUST themselves (individual portraits for fun)! We’ve decided our FAVORITE Portrait Sessions to capture are Marriage Portraits and for fun Portrait Sessions for individuals who just want to treat themselves. Both of these Sessions are unique and celebrate the most long-lasting relationships of your LIFE! Children, weddings, Seniors, etc are all very special and important, but there’s something to be said for the YEARS of love and hard work that you dedicate to your partner, yourself, your educational degrees, etc.

And with that, let’s share the beautiful Autumn Marriage Session of Samantha & Jay-! The last time we saw these two was just 2 months ago when capturing Professional Headshots for Samantha and her career in Professional Therapy. Jay was there with Samantha and was such a supportive guiding force during her Session and we were so thrilled to get to capture these two together this time-! These two have been married for around 5 Years and their love story spans their wedding and moves from elsewhere in Indiana to Arizona and in the more recent years here to the South Bend area-!

Samantha and Jay were very excited about the prospect of getting to do some Marriage Portraits in the Autumn, so we chatted with these two about our past 6 Autumns’ (years) of experience with when the fall colors turn in our area and sent over our gallery of the best fall colored spots in town-! Oddly enough the autumn colors don’t come for us in our area until nearly November, so these two first opted for November 1st, then when they found out that it’d be the first day of the time change, they opted for the weekend earlier. We were so relieved to see the gorgeous fall colors popping when we scouted their locations and the route for them earlier in the week and we were hugely relieved that it was a beautiful cool (non-rainy) day for their Portrait Session-!

We’re very lucky that here in our area there are gorgeous autumn colors AND large bodies of water, farms, and more-! We chatted with these two and they stated that they so far in their moves they prefer beautiful, colorful autumns of here in the Midwest versus the subtle seasons of the desert (since they had lived in Arizona and had already experienced that). Jason is from the desert of California and actually also agreed with all of us too since he’s really enjoyed his 6 autumns here in South Bend-!

Jay and Samantha have similar careers in a way having worked with troubled kids, so we love that these two have that connection and similarity! It really helps to be able to bounce ideas and venting off of your partner, so we’re so glad that these two can confide in each other at that intimate level.

We had a blast with these two sweet people during their Session and feel very lucky to have met and captured them a couple times during these weird Pandemic times-! These two are so humble and caring and this reflects right in their relationship. To be able to capture them after they’ve been through so much growth, life, and love together really brought us so much joy and optimism about life and the world.

These two have a lot of hopes and aspirations for their 2021 and we can’t wait to see their marriage continue to evolve-! We know from personal experience and the experiences that we’ve been lucky enough to witness with 11+ years of wedding photography, family sessions, infant sessions, real estate photography, pet portraits, (and more) that your relationship as a couple evolves and morphs through the years through all of the experiences you two go through together which is really a beautiful thing.

Thank you so much Samantha & Jay for hiring us again a 2nd time in 2 months to capture Portraits for you two! We feel completely honored to have gotten to capture some new Marriage Portraits for you two, we can’t wait to finish editing your Session, and are looking forward to creating your prints for you so that you can hang some of these in your home-!! We hope that you’ve had a great 4 days since we last saw you and be on the lookout for another email from us over the weekend-!

___________Unrelated:

Coming up this weekend is Halloween-! While many states/ cities are justly cancelling Halloween Trick-or-Treating what with the 3rd Wave of Covid-19 within the past 7+ months AND the highest numbers of the Pandemic that our nation has seen the ENTIRE YEAR, our city has upped Trick-or-Treating by an hour and we will be distanced shooting out candy for Trick-or-Treaters in a few days-! We made a 6 foot long Candy Chute/ orange & black pipe and will probably be one of the only houses to pass out candy to Trick-or-Treaters in our neighborhood this week. We haven’t quite settled on our or our pets’ costumes, but will have our steps/ porch roped off and 6 foot long pipe ready to shoot candy down to kids as we fully MASK UP in our KN95 masks-! These masks were EXTREMELY hot and humid in the summer as we photographed in the 100 degree days, but thankfully that hot humidity within the mask really warms our faces up during the fall photography that we’ve captured for our clients-! Finally… a win-win situation-! We hope that if your kids are Trick-or-Treating that you ALL MASK UP to keep folks safe and that you wait a few days before letting the kids handle candy wrappers from all different houses (or at least make them wash their hands after eating some) <3 It may take a little bit more effort this year, but if you’re planning on going house to house this year, you might as well be safe about it. There’s no need to be unsafe and get sick over a bit of candy-! We’ll catch you NEXT Weekly Wednesday with our & our pets’ Halloween Costumes & such, but for now, have a safe rest of your week and early HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
