Hello! Welcome back to this definitely-not-weekly Wednesday’s blog! We wanted to hop back on here before the year’s end to share our recent late autumn Session of a wonderful little family whose annual Holiday Family Portrait Session (& Basilica/ ND Wedding + Chicago Engagement Session) we’ve been lucky enough to have captured over the past 6 autumns-! You’ve seen these faces time & again over the years and likely remember them, but we know them as some of the few folks/ Millennials we’re essentially trauma bonded with at this point. lol That sounds a bit dark yes, but we were hired by these two pre-Pandemmy (just before we got our 2nd doggo & before they got sweet W), captured their first Session with us pre-Pandemmy in Chicago in 2019, and then were some of the wedding couples who made our job easy when they fled to the east coast during the Pandemmy- rescheduling their wedding a full year & making that call/ decision pretty early on in Spring 2020 (*so that we all didn’t have to struggle & reschedule their wedding 3 to 5x like some others sadly had to do as the Pandemic months rolled along). Here’s a flashback to their Chicago Engagement Session:

The spot Jenny & Bridget chose this year for the ‘ole Holiday Portrait Session was much calmer than some other spots can be at times so it made for a nice Session this year. The Session was photographed fully over the hour by Jenny (*with Jason assisting with their doggy treat bag and capturing some side photos). As mentioned, these two are married & both have full-time corporate jobs, so grabbing a weekend date with them is always hard as they’re often busy, out-of-state, or out-of-country on weekends and we’re happy that we got a weekend in before it gone bone-chillingly cold locally-!
For two autumns in a row we’ve been unable to get these 3 in to one particular location that we love (*a spot we love to hike with our dogs), but Jenny did a bit of research and got us all over to their 4th new Holiday Family Portrait spot in the past 6 autumns of portraiture of these two (*across 2 states). We think the boardwalk was probably a fun little change in scenery for their pup Wrigley, but definitely for her human parents (as she loves leaves/ didn’t get to catch many this time).
For the Session this year though we live nearby with our woods that finally has full colorfully bright warm-toned autumn leaves this week, this spot was largely leafless & mainly had tan bog reeds/ cattails & red native holly berries. This all made for a pretty clean palette as Jenny had scouted out some locations that she thought would work well for them. This so far is up there with one of our favorite holiday spots for their Family Portraiture-!
Though it’s been a stressful year for many (*including all of us), these two will still be spending time with extended family in the Midwest this Thanksgiving season/ holiday season-! We’re so happy that they’ve been able to host Thanksgivings/ Christmases past & that their relatives love having their dog W over to visit at their houses (as we know not all families are welcoming to pets or all family members)-!
We know that we haven’t shared many of our clients’ Sessions this year, but we hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving in the next week (*if you celebrate it) and enjoy whatever holidays your culture celebrates this December/ winter season-! Happy/ Merry to all of our wonderful clients & fans (and even frienemies)-! We do have a couple final blog posts to share hopefully over the next 5 to 6 weeks, but if they don’t get shared until 2025, then we’ll catch you next year :)
